This Academic Support Services equips students with essential research skills for academic and professional success. It covers research design, data collection, evaluation of sources, and ethical considerations. Students will learn to develop research questions, conduct literature reviews, analyze data, and present findings effectively. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, problem-solving, and the use of digital tools for research. After going through the workshops or enrichment sessions, the staff/students will be able to develop understanding, knowledge, skills and have confidence in how to effectively conduct research through the use of credible information and appropriate research methodologies.

The Research Skills course equips students with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills required to conduct effective academic research. The course introduces students to the research process, including identifying research problems, developing research questions, conducting literature reviews, and applying appropriate research methodologies. Students will learn how to locate, evaluate, and use credible sources, as well as apply correct academic referencing and citation styles to avoid plagiarism.
In addition, the course develops critical thinking, data collection, data analysis, and academic writing skills necessary for producing research reports and assignments. By the end of the course, students will be able to design a basic research proposal and confidently present their findings in a clear, logical, and scholarly manner.
