This course explores the theoretical foundations and practical applications of digital technologies in enhancing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. Designed for graduate students in the teacher training program, SSE 493 equips future STEM educators with the knowledge and skills to effectively integrate various digital tools, platforms, and resources into their teaching practices. The course emphasizes pedagogical approaches that leverage technology to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity among students, preparing them for the demands of the 21st century learning environment. Topics include digital literacy, online learning environments, interactive simulations, data analysis tools, coding basics, and ethical considerations in technology use.


In this course the senior high school science curriculum and subject specialism will be examined, with opportunities for planning, using new science teaching methodology. There will be peer group teaching sessions putting new methodology into practice.  The main focus will be on new methods of teaching and being a reflective science teacher in the context of standard – based curriculum (SBC), focusing on the senior high school science contents.
