Oral Literature

The course helps students to research and document aspects of PNG culture and to promote the importance of preserving traditional knowledge and values. The course will examine the role of literature in the development of culture. Students will study oral narratives that have been collected from around PNG and the pacific-rim nations. They will also examine the different types of folklore from within PNG and study each importance in justifying the history of its people. Student will also be expected to conduct a research into collecting and collating an anthology of folklore form their own culture.
