Description
This course is designed to provide you with fundamental knowledge in the sociology of education and social development. Since education is an essential institution in a society, the sociology of education should focus on an array of salient emerging social issues. Sociology of education makes contribution to the understanding of an important institution present in every society – “education”.
In this study guide we explore the aspects of the field of sociology of education including theories, methods, emerging issues, social stratification, inequalities, population, culture, crime, religion, gender, development and work which are related to education. The course also looks at the main differences between social change and development and how education can lead to development.
