This course will introduce the fundamentals of tourism. Students will be able to learn the history and place of tourism in the life of mankind and how it has shaped the life of people in the last centuries. Topics will include history of travel and tourism; travel motivations; types and forms of tourism; tourism components and tourism products; tourists attractions in PNG; domestic and international tourists’ behavior; impact of tourism on economic, culture, and environment; tourism organizations in local, provincial, regional and international levels, role of provincial and national government involvement in tourism development; emerging trends in tourism; and career opportunities.
