Clinical Practicum 3 (Rural Practicum)

Rural Clinical Practicum provides students with an eight-week placement in rural health centres and sub-health centres. It enables students to apply knowledge and skills gained from Midwifery Practice 1 and 2, public health, neonatal, and other midwifery courses in real rural settings. Students will provide maternal and newborn care, participate in community health activities, conduct community needs assessments, promote maternal and newborn health, and work with rural health staff and communities. The practicum aims to develop students’ confidence, clinical decision-making, independence, and ability to provide safe and effective midwifery care in resource-limited settings. Students will be supervised and supported by midwifery educators throughout the placement.
