This course will introduce the students to the Coastal Processes, geology and Geomorphology and

are among the most dynamic geologic processes; change in the morphology of many coasts can
be observed on annual (or shorter) time scales. The ever-pounding waves generated by winds at
sea release tremendous quantities of energy along continental margins, constantly shaping coasts.
The students will study coastal geomorphology, and the processes at work on our coastlines and
the ocean with features that we see in coastal systems across the world. The resulting processes
of erosion, transport and deposition and the features they create are clearly explained, with a

features are related to contemporary processes and to sea-level changes over the past 25 000
