This course serves as a foundation in the study of woodwork. It introduces and develops content and skills in woodwork techniques, materials and processes, woodwork trade calculations, basic surface finishing, safety and management in the woodwork shops. Woodwork techniques deals with the fundamental skills and techniques employed in the woodwork trades. Materials and processes covers forest types in PNG & commercial timber species, wood structure, timber processing, seasoning, defects and preservation, manufactured boards manufacturing processes, including sundry items - adhesives, nails, screws, and coated abrasives.. Woodwork trade calculations involves, the basic understanding of arithmetic employed in the woodworking trade especially when calculating bill of quantities from trade drawings. Surface finishing deals with function, finishing material, clear finishes, preparation for surface finishing, brushing method and techniques, and care of brush and tin of varnish. Practical invo
