The intention of this course is to allow students to undertake in-depth analysis of educational issues arising within the developing countries. Students will critically examine educational policies and practices that have become issues in some selected developing countries within the overall political, educational and administrative framework. The first part of the course looks at educational issues in selected developing region in the world. Developing regions to look at are: 1. Africa 2. South East Asia 3. Pacific 4. South America 5. The Middle East The second part of the course will discuss issues of education in Papua New Guinea. Students will be encouraged to discuss, examine and analyse some of the current educational problems and policy issues in PNG and an attempt to explore possibilities and alternatives for future educational development. The course also enables students to undertake library research, keeping up to date with current events from media sources.
