DESCRIPTION
This course attempts to cover all physical geography sub-fields as well as other related fields. In order to equip .Students with basic understanding of topics in planet earth (geology), topics in geomorphology, hydrology, physical and applied fields of oceanography, climatology and biogeography. The Introductory lecture topic concentrates on Indigenous Geography (Indigenous Geographical Knowledge). The topic has been developed to allow students to cover many aspects and issues of Indigenous geographical knowledge and to guide them to do research on Indigenous methods of forecasting hazards of natural/ environmental events such as cyclone, volcanic eruption etc. How different communities through the indigenous method of forecasting the events were able to mitigate, reduce or prevent the impact and how some of these indigenous methods are still applicable in modern time, hence can complement the modern –sophisticated technological -aided hazards forecasting systems.
