This course examines the complex relationship between gender, education and society, exploring how gender roles and identities are constructed, reinforced, and challenged within educational systems across the world. The course also explores global and local context, including developing and developed countries, with a specific focus on Papua New Guinea (PNG). Key themes include history of gender education, sensitive pedagogy, and the intersection of gender with other social identities such as race, class and ability. Through this course students will critically analyse the historical development of gender inequalities in education, the socio-cultural and institutional barriers to gender equality, and the role of education in shaping and transforming gender norms. The course comprised of two modules and 14 units. The first moudle 'Gender and Education' and second is 'Gender, Power and Change'.
