 Course Description

This course aims to examine the concepts of relevance and innovation as they relate to contemporary education in Papua New Guinea (PNG) and to examine how innovations, particularly at the school level, can be operationalized in PNG education system. Prior to the examination of issues such as academic verses vocational oriented education the different forms of knowledge are discussed to develop an understanding of why core and non core subjects are highly prevalent in PNG. The process and models of innovation are examined by looking critically into 3 relevant curriculum innovations in the contemporary society in PNG. Specific strategies towards planning and management of innovation are also discussed.
